Brooklands, In association with the Vintage Sports-Car Club, will host the 2012 Double Twelve Motorsport Festival on the 16th and 17th June. Almost 5,000 people attended the 2011 Double Twelve Motorsport Festival. This year's event promises to be even more successful and is expected to be the biggest motoring competition held at Brooklands since 1939. The Double Twelve Driving Concours competition will involve 144 classic and vintage cars competing in and around the Museum site over the weekend with special classes celebrating 50 years of the MGB and 80 years of the Coupe des Dames - a class specific to lady drivers using sports and rally cars. In addition, a special class will pit VW Beetles against the Citroen 2CV. The established historic Brookland classes will his year commemorate the 105th Anniversary of the opening of the Brooklands race track on June 17th 1907. It is expected these classes will feature numbers of the Austin Seven which celebrates its 90th anniversary this year. The Brooklands Speed Trials will take place on the Saturday. 100 Pre-war cars will tackle the challenging 800m sprint course on the adjoining Mercedes Benz World circuit. On Sunday, The Test Hill Challenge will take place in the early afternoon - everything from Sinclair C5s, bicycles and motorcycles to giant pre-war racing cars will tackle the steep Test Hill, Some vehicles may even head down the Hill in a test of their brakes. With family entertainment as well, this is a weekend for everyone! Throughout the weekend there will be a display of AC Cobras to celebrate the marque’s 50th anniversary. This is being organised by AC Heritage and will surround the Brooklands Motor Works at the top of Test Hill. The Brooklands Motor Works are the official Test Hill sponsors for the Double Twelve weekend and Cobras will feature in the Test Hill Challenge on Sunday afternoon and in a special parade on the Mercedes-Benz World track.
